Bortle Bounded Terms of Service

Last updated: 24 October 2026

These terms apply to the Bortle Bounded Android app and this website. By using them, you agree to these terms.

What Bortle Bounded provides

Bortle Bounded is an educational astronomy app. It helps you learn constellation patterns and understand how light pollution changes the night sky. It is not a navigation, safety, weather or professional astronomy service.

Using the app safely

Use common sense when looking at the sky. Stay aware of your surroundings, local conditions, traffic, uneven ground and other people. Do not rely on the app where a mistake could cause harm, and do not use it while driving or otherwise needing your full attention.

Purchases

Bortle Bounded includes a one-time Google Play purchase to unlock the full sky. Purchases, payment methods, refunds and billing are handled by Google Play under its own terms and policies. We do not handle or store your payment details.

Your content

Notes, saved patterns, dedicated stars, awards and backups you create in the app stay on your device unless you choose to share or back them up. You are responsible for any content you choose to share and for keeping your own backups.

Intellectual property

The app, website, artwork and written material are owned by or licensed to Bortle Bounded. You may use them for personal, non-commercial learning. Please do not copy, redistribute, sell or present them as your own without permission, except where a feature expressly lets you share your own in-app content.

Availability and changes

We may update, improve or discontinue parts of the app or website. We aim to keep Bortle Bounded useful and accurate, but astronomy information, app-store services and device features can change. To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided without guarantees that they will always be available or error-free.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, Bortle Bounded is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app or website.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how Bortle Bounded handles information and device permissions.
